An heirloom originating with the Pennsylvania Dutch, the Hinkelhatz pepper (capsicum annuum) is an open pollinated variety that can be traced back to the early 1600's and is originally thought to come from Mexico. The name, also spelled Hinkelhatz, translates to "chicken heart", which is a reference to the size and shape of this wonderful pepper. This variety is a great producer and is reasonably cold tolerant for a chili pepper. Pods mature in 80-90 days with a Scoville Rating of 125,000. 15 seeds per package.
